Hi, all! I’m blogging over at popculturedivas today! Come visit me and stop by for a chat … Grab a cup of coffee and settle in. …
I’m chatting about food in fiction today. Remember Jenny Crusie’s Krispy Kreme scene in “Bet Me”? (Debi, didn’t you mention that one?!?!) Or do you know of Edward X’s messy sandwiches in Lawrence Sanders’ detective series? Or what about some of those interesting meals they eat in the Medieval romances (like the oranges and almonds and “sugar sticks” that Melanthe ate for lunch in “For My Lady’s Heart”), or in the historical Regencies?
Come share the most memorable food you remember in fiction! … The link is here.
Hi Laurie,
Yes I did mention the Krispy Kremes in “You Bet”, I loved that book! I also have read some Janet Evanovich books that mention cakes and other things that sound yummy! Lets not forget your book though, Adams coffee and Simones roast beef sandwich made me want both! 🙂
Hi, Debi! Yeah, I’ll never look at a Krispy Kreme the same way again. … I’ve never read Janet Evanovich — But when I get to hers, I’ll have to look for some of her treats.
And thanks for mentioning Adam and Simone! Food played a pretty big part in my book, which is what made me think of it when reading others’. Adam is always preparing food in the book, meant as part of his nature of taking care of people. And it’s one of the things Simone really needs. 🙂 Also the coffee is a big deal, and the sugar. Adam gets to Simone and “Tempest” the same way!
