3 for Thursday: Scariest Movies You’ve Ever Seen (including your first!)

Three for Thursday is a new game I’m starting here for random Thursdays — But truly, it’s only fun if you all leave comments! So please join in  — I can’t wait to hear your lists. …

First up, in honor of Halloween coming up next month:

3 Scariest Movies You’ve Ever Seen (including your first!)

Mine are:

1. First: “Picture Mommy Dead” — I know, it sounds awful. (And it was! Horrifying ghost story.) We had a babysitter, and she let me stay up and watch it. I was around 7. I had nightmares for weeks.

2. “The Shining” — Saw this in high school. Gads. Jack Nicholson was awesome scary!

3. “Halloween” — I don’t think I saw this until I was in my 20s, and I’m still not sure I ever saw the whole thing. I’m a chicken.

(And I couldn’t list more than 3 if I wanted to because I’m such a chicken!)

How about you?

  1. 1 – Amityville Horror – I saw it at the theater in 7th grade and was terrified! I have seen it since though, and it is not scarey at all, so obviously I was more scared as a kid.

2 – When a Stranger Calls – This came out when I was big into baby sitting and terrified me!!

3 – SAW – This was not so much “scarey” as it was freakey to watch! It is so hard to beleive that someones mind would work that way! The ending was such a twist that it made me excited to see more! I have seen them all (I know, I am weird) but the first one is still the best)!

So, the last one wasn’t your typical slasher films, but I hope it still counts ! Halloween is a good one too, I remember watching that and being freaked out and also, as a kid just hearing my mom and dad watching the “Exorcist” scared me! I was too chicken to go into the family room, but I could hear the tv and was terrified from the screams!!

  2. Play Misty for Me – My “crazy” aunt made me watch it with her when I was around 12 or so. Boy, it scared the heck out of me! I have not watched it since…but at times wonder if it would still scare me…hmmmm – maybe I’ll have to watch it. It’s such an old movie that I imagine it’s not near as scary as anything that is out nowadays.

The Shining – I have no desire to ever see this one again either. Jack Nicholson is creepy!!

Just the thought of “The Exorcist” really freaks me out! I will never watch that one…

I think I’m going to like this “3 for Thursday” blog, Mizwrite – even if I only have 2 for Thursday 🙂

  3. Ok, this looks good!
    Scary movies, huh?
    1-The Exorcist
    2-Holloween
    3-Signs (Really freaked me out!)
Of course there are others but these are the ones I can think of right now.
Maybe one day you’ll have “Free For All Fridays”??? Then we’ll go nuts!

  4. Oooh, these were all good ones! I forgot about “Amityville Horror” — I couldn’t watch that one, either, but the concept scared me a lot back then. And that one scene from “When a Stranger Calls” got played a lot, huh?

Michelle, I don’t know “Play Misty for Me,” but the story of your “crazy” aunt seems like it’s just as entertaining! : )

Superman, yeah, “Signs” was a creepy flick, too. M. Night Shyamalan is such a good storyteller. He’s become like a modern Stephen King, in my mind.

I think (including the comments I got on Facebook) “Halloween” made the most lists!

Thanks for playing, all! Come back next week!
