Ten Good Reasons to Read TEN GOOD REASONS — Nos. 2 and 1

We’re counting down to launch TEN GOOD REASONS tomorrow! Here are reasons 2 and 1:

Reason 2 – Lia

12ed97e7738b40251ab0cf2bc193dbf4Lia was the marketing-minded sister in The Red Bikini who kept Fin on his toes. (He didn’t want to date the sister of his closest friend.)

Now she has her own story, where she brings her talkative attitude, her optimistic disposition, and her problem-solving skills to the Sandy Cove marina, where she manages to make a few more waves than she meant to.

I always had a young Piper Perabo (left) in mind when writing Lia. I’ve actually tried to write her story a few times, but it wasn’t until the character Evan showed up on the page that I really knew I had found her match.

Speaking of which…

Reason 1 – Evan

63a336b19eef13556bd9fa4759cabc38Evan is a completely different hero than Fin, and I’m curious what everyone will think of this brooding, sexy boat captain who has a haunted past.

I thought he was unlikely match for Lia – given her eternal optimism –  so I threw them together on the page and watched sparks fly!

I had so much fun writing these two. I sure hope you like their story.

Ten Good Reasons to Read TEN GOOD REASONS — Nos. 5, 4, 3

We’re in the middle of our countdown to launch TEN GOOD REASONS in just a few days. Here are reasons 5, 4, and 3:

Reason 5 – The Bar Scene

There’s a whole bar scene in the middle of the book that I really liked. It wasn’t based on a single bar in Orange County, but kind of a composite of a few places. I meant for it to be a sort of “underworld” that Lia and Evan end up in, and I hope I pulled it off.

Reason 4 – The Disentanglement Scene

I can’t say too much about this one without major spoilers, but this is one of my favorite scenes of the book. After you read it, check out the Ten Good Reasons book page on my website for the video that inspired this scene.

Reason 3 – The First Kiss Scene

I love the “first kiss” scene in almost every romance novel – including my own! The first kiss is usually such a game-changer in the story because it’s when both characters realize something huge is changing between them — when they usually don’t want it to. Lia and Evan didn’t disappoint – their first kiss might be one of my favorites yet!

We’re starting our countdown to launch TEN GOOD REASONS in ten days. Here’s Reason 8 – You’ll get to “experience” a dolphin stampede!

Dolphin stampedes are not uncommon in Southern California, since we have a coastline that is home to the highest density of common dolphin per square mile than anywhere on Earth, up to 450,000 along our shoreline alone. They often travel in herds of hundreds or thousands here. So in TEN GOOD REASONS, I took you along for one of these rides!

Here’s a video of a typical stampede. They’re so peaceful and beautiful, they often make me cry:
