Maybe it was your first dog Skippy, maybe it was a neighbor’s rabbit, or maybe it was that silly hamster of your daughter’s — Which are 3 pets you’ve truly loved?

I am a dog lover, I can’t pick! I have two dogs now and a cat that I have had for 14 years, so I guess they are my three =)
Debi, what are their names/personalities? Have you always had pets?
How funny that you ask… Just the other day we were talking about the first time I ever held a puppy/dog – which was at 26 and we bought that puppy for Ash.
1. Jazz – Ashlee’s first dog – a chow whom we loved dearly. She passed away when Ashlee was 18. Jazz was 13 years old.
2. Stella – our little chihuahua. I never wanted a chihuahua, but I love our little “Bean” like crazy! She loves me no matter what 🙂 She is going to be 3 years old tomorrrow…
3. Baby – who wasn’t my pet, but my best friend’s. The most amazing, loveable dog ever! She was a black chow. She was 13 when she passed away and we were all devastated. This was about 6 years ago and I still miss her.
By the way, even though it took me 26 years to ever hold a puppy, I am now a dog lover!! And I can’t imagine life without a family doggie 🙂
Aw, all your dogs sound sooooo sweet, M! So Stella is still with you? It seems like everyone says that about chihuahuas — that they didn’t “want” one before, but now they’re smitten! And I loved your stories about Jazz and Baby.
I grew up having a family dog. My first dog was Tina and I picked her out of the pound when I was 5 yrs old. We had a neighbor or someone that had a dog named Tina and I wanted one so bad! So, my parents took us to a shelter to find one and I remember telling my mom, “there’s a Tina dog!” We had her until my sophomore or junior year in high school. Do you remember her, Laurie?
I have had a few dogs since, but the two that I have now are Maycee and Louie. Maycee is a white german shepherd and Louie is a black german shepherd and they are such good family dogs. Louie is the youngest, he will be two in a couple of weeks. He is my baby – or should I say I am his! He follows me around and is very protective of me – it is really sweet. Maycee is 4 yrs old and she is very timid, always has been. She is a sweetheart, but you have to earn her attention! My cat, Kramer, was a Valentines gift for my kids 14 yrs ago. I was a single mom and didn’t want the responsibility of a dog, so I thought I would try a cat. He is a great pet too – a big white ball of fluff! He is very independent and not very social (unless he wants to be). I have to say though, after he is gone, I won’t have another cat….I will stick with dogs. There is nothing wrong with them, but dogs just have more personality. Pets are a lot of work, but I can’t imagine my life without them =)
