About the Header

The Mizwrite.com header — bright pink bougainvillea running along a wooden fence — is a photo I took at a local skatepark one afternoon when I was there with my youngest son. Instantly, I thought it would be perfect for the blog. First, because I love the colors. : )  Second, because bougainvillea grows all over Southern California and will always remind me of home. And third, because it’s so very “California” — and I think represents what I’d like my writing to be.

The cropping and letters were done by my beautiful 13-year-old daughter, Rene. She is a budding artist, mostly working in fine art, and this was her second or third attempt at doing some online graphic art. I just loved working with her, and it’s fun to give her a place to “play” artistically.
