Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!! (a little late)

Oh my gosh, I meant to send a post up this morning wishing everyone a happy Cinco De Mayo!

But my post didn’t go up (because I didn’t schedule it right). And the day rolled on with a lot of fun and I let it slip away from me. … We got out of work early; we had a taco cart at work; I met Superman in the early afternoon and we bought a car (!); I walked up to the grocery store for fresh avocado and lime, and passed a great celebration at our town square (margaritas flowing!); then I walked home and we had a GREAT dinner with my brother-in-law of homemade pork tacos/ homemade guacamole/ limes/ cilantro/ etc. … Oh, yummy-yum.

And Superman DID make these:

But my drink is … er … already gone. …

So here’s a belated toast to all of you — with a little Jose Cuervo:

Espero que tenia una feliz cinco de mayo!

(If my Spanish is bad there, blame the margarita!) 🙂

Hope yours was as excellent!

The Man He’s Becoming. …

My boy is growing up. … His birthday is later this month, and we’ve already begun celebrating. There’s a lot to celebrate with this one.

I read once, in some advice for parents, that you should raise little people who you’d like to hang around with. And we’ve definitely done that with him. He’s someone that I love to just sit around and talk to. He’s the kind of person I would always want to be friends with if he weren’t my son.

He’s smart, and witty. He’s charming, and kind, and thoughtful, and moral. He’s ultra-responsible. (This is a guy you don’t worry about going into the world on his own — he’ll navigate it fine.) And I love how responsible he always feels for his younger sister and brother. He’s a commitment guy — commits to long-term friendships, relationships, projects, beliefs. And he always stands up for what he believes in.

I’m so proud of the man he’s becoming. Happy birthday, son!
