A Little Brother’s View …

Someday ...

"Someday ..." - Photo by L. Sanchez, 2009

We’re in full “football mode” already. Nate watches his older brother’s varsity scrimmage, and you can just see the wheels churning … What will I play when I go here? Will I run like that? Will I be that big? …

Do you remember watching the “big kids” like that?

  1. I love this shot! I love when we go to any sporting event (especially his brother’s) and he does this. He just CANNOT wait to get out and play. I remember thinking like that as a kid. Wonderful anticipation.
Great shot Laurie; our boy is awesome! All our kids are!

  2. I absolutely love shots that show the back of a child’s or baby’s head and includes what the child is gazing at or engaged in. It always fills me with the same sorts of questions you’ve included.

  3. I’m still wondering if I will ever be that big too! I’m running out of hope, and time…

I remember watching my big brothers’ play football, and wondering when, or if, I would be able to play tackle football (as you may recall I had an overprotective mother). Now, I find myself marveling at the fact that it has been nearly 20 years since I suited up for a football game.

Selfishly, I hope it takes a long time for Nate to get there because when he is in high school it means I am 40! Oh the humanity! Let’s keep Nate young just a little longer if for nothing more than the sake of keeping his youngest uncle young…

  4. Chris — Yes, curiosity, hope and anticipation, all rolled into one, huh?

Julia — Thank you! Yes, pics of a baby’s face or the back of a little kid’s head (when they’re looking at something) always make you contemplate what’s going through their thoughts, huh? Fun stuff. …

David — Awwwwww … Still wishing, Dave??? 🙂 So you didn’t play tackle until you were in HS? (You didn’t play Pop Warner as your older bros did?) I can’t remember now. … Anyway, we’ll try to keep Nate as young as possible for as long as possible (for some of the same reasons you’ve mentioned!), but time does march on. … “Oh the humanity” is right! 🙂
